The Chapel of La Conquistadora in the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, commonly known as Saint Francis Cathedral, a Roman Catholic cathedral in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. La Conquistadora, also known as Our Lady of Peace, is the 30-inch Marian statue brought from Mexico to Santa Fe by Franciscan priests in 1625, and is the oldest statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the United States .
Dressed in white in this photo, La Conquistadora, has more than 200 outfits and ceremonial capes, some encrusted with jewels and sewn from luxurious fabrics, and her outfits are changed at least once a month, and daily during the novena Mass for La Conquistadora’ in June.
