Description
A vertical, toned, black and white photo of one of the many works of art and ceiling in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress. This mural, Lyric Poetry, was painted by Henry Oliver Walker in 1896.
The oldest of the three United States Library of Congress buildings, the Thomas Jefferson Building was built between 1890 and 1897. It is located on First Street SE, between Independence Avenue and East Capitol Street in Washington, D.C., across from the U.S. Capitol building. The Beaux-Arts style building is known for its classicizing facade, elaborately decorated interior, and works of art by more than 50 American painters and sculptors.
