Hvar town is the main city on the island of Hvar, which is in the Adriatic Sea and is part of Croatia. Atop one of the hills of the town is the Catholic cemetery that is filled with statues and memorials. The late afternoon sunlight there bathes this cherub in a beautiful warm glow while leaving other statues in dark shade.

I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
