Walking through the Convent of the Friars Minor Capuchin, also called the Convent of the Capuchos, or the Convento dos Capuchos, in Portuguese, I noticed the patina and patterns that had built up over 500 years on the stone walls, and knew it would be a beautiful abstract with some digital enhancement.

Built in the mid 1500s, the convent consists of small quarters and public spaces for 8 monks, and is located in the municipality of Sintra, in southern Portugal.

I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
