Description
The reflections of the Grand Canyon Depot in one of the windows of the Mary Colter car of the Grand Canyon Railway. The Grand Canyon Railway is a heritage railroad that began in the early 1900's and operates between Williams, Arizona, and the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. The Grand Canyon Depot, near the El Tovar Hotel, is log and wood-framed structure that was also built in the early 1900's and is a National Historic Landmark. Mary Colter was an American architect and designer, one of the few female American architects in her time. She designed many landmark buildings and spaces for the Fred Harvey Company and the Santa Fe Railroad, including many in Grand Canyon National Park.
