Description
Looking through openings in the fieldstone ruins of St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church in Harpers Ferry National Park in West Virginia. Built in the early 1850's, the church served as a hospital and barracks during the Civil War when it suffered considerable damage. It was rebuilt after the war, but was abandoned in 1895 when a new Episcopal church was built in the upper part of town.
