Description
A monument of the biplane named the Santa Cruz, which was the first plane to fly across the South Atlantic Ocean. Piloted by Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral, the plane took off from Lisbon, Portugal, on March 24, 1922, and landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 79 days later. The seaplane monument honoring this journey is an exact replica of that Fairey seaplane, and is located in the Belem District of Lisbon.
