Description
Moulay Idriss, or Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, is located between Chefchaouen and Meknes in Morocco. It is considered a holy town to the Moroccan people because Moulay Idriss I came here in 789, bringing with him the religion of Shiism, and starting a new dynasty.
The town's medina, or old town, is similar to the medinas in other cities in Morocco, with small and narrow streets. You can also see what would otherwise be plain stone walls and doors painted with beautiful scenes and designs with rich colors, like this vibrant door surrounded by red and orange wall designs.
