Description
The medina, or old town, in Moulay Idriss, Morocco, was different than the medinas I had seen in other Morocco towns and cities because it some unique decorations on the walls in its public streets. For example, this wall had recurring and alternating patterns and shapes of colored rocks and stone that extended the length of the street. I think it works well as both an example of unique wall art and of abstract expression.
Moulay Idriss, or Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, is located between Chefchaouen and Meknes in Morocco. It is considered a holy town to the Moroccan people because Moulay Idriss I came here in 789, bringing with him the religion of Shiism, and started a new dynasty.
