Spring in Washington, DC, is a beautiful time of year. Most people think of it as a time where the cherry blossoms bloom around the tidal basin and, indeed, that beautiful array of cherry trees brings thousands of visitors to the city. The truth is, however, that beautiful trees bloom all over the city and walking down most city blocks gives views such as the pink blossoms in this picture. I think this is also a cherry tree, but a different variety than the ones at the today basin.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
