The Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 forced me to abandon my usual travel photography and to explore shooting possibilities both in and closer to home. Sitting on my living room couch one sunny morning, I noticed light streaming through the Venetian blinds on my glass balcony door and immediately thought of the high contrast, graphic, black and white, abstract image shown here.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
