The Washington National Cathedral, in Washington, DC, is the sixth largest cathedral in the world. It has gothic architecture and is shaped like a cross. This black and white photo shows the crossing of the church, where the two transept arms meet the long nave forming a cross, along with some of the cathedral's many stained glass windows, ribbed vaulting, flying buttresses, rows of seats, and the Canterbury Pulpit.

I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
