The dry summer of 2016 in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, left the Potomac River's falls and rapids fairly calm and quiet, and still ponds could be seen in areas typically covered by water. I took this picture of from one of the bridges along the Olmsted Island Bridges Trail at the Chesapeake & Ohio National Park in Maryland, also known as Great Falls.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
