A car's headlights lights up the road to El Chalten in Los Glaciares National Park, in the Patagonia region of Argentina. In the background, the top of Mount Fitz Roy (also known as Cerro Chalten, Cerro Fitz Roy, or simply Monte Fitz Roy), the highest peak in the park, is hidden by passing clouds.

I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
