The 2020-21 Covid-19 pandemic put my usual travel photography on hold and forced me to explore shooting possibilities both in and closer to home. An on-line photography course taught me techniques for macro photography, and it turns out that I love it. I borrowed a friend's clear glass perfume bottle in the shape of a heart, placed it on red glitter paper, and took this macro closeup of it.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
