Lake Minnewanka, "Water of the Spirits" in Nakoda, is a glacial lake located in the eastern area of the park, about 3 miles northeast of the Banff townsite. The lake is the longest lake in the mountain parks of the Canadian Rockies. Here much of the shoreline is exposed because, although photographed in June, spring has come late to the Canadian Rockies and glacial runoff has yet to fill the lake.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
