Officially Melaleuca quinquenervia, the paperbark tree, also called the paper bark tea tree or niaouli, is a small- to medium-sized tree of the allspice family, Myrtaceae. The tree is native to New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and coastal eastern Australia, from Botany Bay in New South Wales northwards, into Queensland and the Northern Territory. I saw this particular tree while hiking a trail in the Daintree National Park Rain Forrest in Queensland, Australia.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
