The Abbey of St Mary is a ruined Benedictine abbey in York, England. The original abbey on the site was founded in 1055, and was rebuilt several times until it was closed and then substantially destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries under King Henry VIII. All that remains today are the north and west walls, plus a few other remnants.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
