Looking up at a branch of Kwanzan cherry blossoms against the sky in springtime in Washington, DC, where cherry trees and blossoms are everywhere and not just at the rightfully famous Tidal Basin.The majority of the cherry blossom trees around the Tidal Basin are the Yoshino variety. But another species, the Kwanzan, shown here, usually blooms two weeks after the Yoshino trees. As much as I love the Yoshino trees at the Tidal Basin, I have to confess that the Kwanzan trees are my favorite.
