Description
This is a black and white image of the southern part of Death Valley basin (Badwater Basin) taken from Dante's View. Dante's View is a viewpoint terrace at 5,476 feet along the crest of the Black Mountains. What looks like white clouds is actually the salt and minerals left behind after water covering the valley basin evaporates. The arc in the lower left hand of the photo is part of the road through the valley basin.
