Beautiful morning light on the buildings and a church spire along the Douro River at dawn in Porto, Portugal. Famous for its port wine, Porto is Portugal's second largest city behind Lisbon, and its historical core is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Speaking of port wine, you can also see the caped, silhouette logo of Sandeman Port Wine, on the side of one of the buildings. Sandeman is a brand of port and sherry wines founded in 1790, and its well-known logo features this caped man named Don dressed in a Portuguese student's cape and a wide Spanish hat.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
