Golden Canyon is a popular hiking trail in Death Valley National Park in California. At the end of that trail, you can retrace your steps back to the trailhead, or hike further in a large loop that takes you up and then back down through some amazing badlands. That part of the trail is named Gower Gulch Loop.
Here is an image take while hiking that loop. The two hikers on the trail on the right side of the photograph give you sense of the scale and desolation of this incredible place.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
