Artist's Description
A small group of people walk through the enormous square in front of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. The mosque is the largest in Africa, and the 5th largest in the world. Following the death of King Mohammed V in 1961, King Hassan II requested the country's best artisans to submit plans for a mausoleum honoring the departed king. Construction of the mosque began in 1986 and was completed in 1993. Its minaret is the tallest in the world and the mosque can accommodate 105,000 worshippers, 25,000 inside and another 80,000 on the outside square.

I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
