What seems to be a lone building sits above the trees from an oasis below and is nestled in the rocky hillside of the Dades Gorge region of Morocco, between Tinghir and Skoura. The drive through this area was stunningly beautiful, as it passes through mountains and gorges and the occasional green oasis with date trees and farm fields contrasted with the surrounding brown mountains and pockets of towns and cities, new and old. Because the unusual rock formations looks like fingers rising from the river below, the cliffs are known as Monkey Fingers.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
