Artist's Description
I love seeing a beautiful sunrise or sunset. Sunrise in Erg Chebbi, one of Morocco's several large seas of sand dunes formed by wind-blown sand, was no exception. It was a short 15 minute walk in the dark with my flashlight from my hotel to a deserted spot in the dunes and then it was just waiting for the sun to start to rise over distant dunes. The sky had beautiful broken clouds, and turned amazing shades of yellow, orange, and red. An unforgettable experience!

I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
