Just after photographing the sunrise by the Luis I Bridge in Porto, Portugal, I noticed this weathered and worn building with great graffiti along the ground level below windows and balconies. Famous for its port wine, Porto is Portugal's second largest city behind Lisbon, and its historical core is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
