Description
A view across a sound with an island tree towards the Old Man Of Storr on the Trotternish peninsula of the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The Storr is a large pinnacle of rock on the peninsula's eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay. According to legend, the Old Man of Storr gets its name because the rock outline and the protruding pinnacle resemble that of the face of an old man. The area in front of the cliffs of the Storr is known as the Sanctuary, and its weirdly shaped rock pinnacles are the remnants of ancient landslips.
