When most people think of Washington, DC, images of the National Mal and its monuments and memorials, the White House, the Capital, the Smithsonian Museums, and neighborhoods like Georgetown and Capital Hill all come to mind. Running through the middle of the city, however, is a lovely creek and park that divides the east and west parts of the city. Rock Creek is the name of both the creek and the park and it provides beautiful hiking and nature trails and activities. One part of the creek, near Pierce Mill, an historic mill building, has this small waterfall. When I was there last winter, the remains of a fallen tree balanced over the creek.
I guess I've had an off-and-on love affair with photography my whole life. My father was always taking pictures and movies when I was a kid growing up on Long Island, NY in the 1950s-60s, and he gave me my own Kodak Brownie camera when I was around 6 years old. I remember using it to take pictures of family events and a trip to Washington DC, back in 1958. I still have some of the pictures ....... somewhere. Photography moved to the back burner during high school, college, and law school, but I picked it up again after I graduated law school in 1979, moved to Washington DC, and began my legal career with the federal government.
