Description
One of the highlights of my trip to Morocco was a visit to Erg Chebbi -- one of Morocco's several large seas of dunes formed by wind-blown sand. While the ergs are within an area of semi-arid Pre-Saharan Steppes, and not technically part of the Sahara desert which lies some distance to the south, it sure looked like how I had always imagined the Sahara Desert would look.
While there, my travel group hired some local Berber residents to drive us up and down some off-the-beaten dunes in their SUVs. They wore their traditional clothes and were happy to pose for some photos for us. For this photo, we asked our driver to walk the ridge line of this beautiful dune and he was a good sport for walking back and forth several times for us in the afternoon sun.
