Description
Located halfway between Lisbon and Porto, the fishing town of Nazare is famous for its beach and huge waves, which can sometimes reach 100 feet high, making it a popular surfing destination.
Waves on the sunbathers side of town are far calmer than that, but still very dramatic, and I had a great view from an overlook on the upper part of town. A long telephoto lens let me capture this wave as it began to curl before it crashed on the beach.
